Van-Damn!!!
A few days ago Volvo Trucks released an ad, teasing the release of their latest ad.
Oh yes, we do that now.
As you may have guessed from the clever title, this campaign features ‘vans’, or in this case Volvo Trucks, and Van Dammes, just one, Jean-Claude (of course).
The Teaser
Tantalising isn’t it?
Well wait no longer. It is the 14th, we do have the stunt and it is awesome.

Thanks for pointing this one out @JanPruijser
HAPPY FRIDAY!!!
I feel slightly estranged to this blogging malarky, but better way to get back in the saddle than a post dedicated to Friday funnies. So here they are…
World’s funniest eye witness account recorded via voicemail:
Funny or Die parody Chipotle’s recent ad, Scarecrow:
This ad:
And… I made another Friday Photoshop:
Va Va Voom
Renault’s latest online offering has already accomplished viral success. Their simple test-drive video has already clocked up over 2.5 million views in under a week.
‘What did they do?’ I hear you cry. Jump from space? Make a pony dance? Gangnam Style???
No…. They made French girls dance in their underwear. #Winning
They also did a more female friendly version. Let me know what it’s like.
Cheers.
Mince Pony Mince
The latest ad for mobile Network Three is a return to the slightly surreal, this time held together with the line ‘Silly stuff. It matters‘.
Apparently 45% of mobile sharing is simply to make people smile. With this in mind the advertising agency, Wieden & Kennedy, have modled Three’s new campaign around celebrating the silliness of the internet. So seen as dancing and animals are always hot to trot (so to speak) why not start with a dancing pony?
However, with horse being hot on the menu, it wasn’t long before someone served up an alternative:
Thank you The Poke for creating this and @OllyBoden for sharing it with me, apologies if this horse is not to your taste.
Facebook Ad
So just in case you didn’t know what Facebook was, they made an ad.
I know, I know. And it’s probably more vomit inducing than you first imagined BUT… If you make it through the first 35 seconds you will be rewarded with the link at the bottom of the page.
Chairs, doorbells, bridges, airplanes. These are things that people use to get together and connect. Facebook is also something that over a billion people around the world use to connect with one another.
It is also important to note that these social guru’s have disabled comments and rating on this video.
Congratulations for surviving that saccharine monstrosity, now here is your reward:

Integrated Advertising Explained
This is a beautifully crafted and slightly informative video. I like to think of it as cardboard’s version of ‘I’m on a horse’.
Thanks to @AdKingUK for finding this.
The Cat and the Butter
So we’ve all heard the old buttered cat conundrum. How would a cat land if it had a buttered piece of toast attached to its back? Or… would it remain in a state of perpetual motion?
This classic theory has not only been put to the test but the test has been put to use.
Absolutely amazing work from Ogilvy, Sao Paulo!
I couldn’t decide whether it was a real drink or just a funky bit of content. So,to put any equally curious minds at ease, Flying Horse does exist.
Thanks to Adam Bright for finding this gem!
WTF QR Codes?
There is a Tumblr blog that specialises in pointless QR Codes, I think they would be most rewarded to consider this:
It is actually quite a clever ad, created by DDBO Mexico for VW, demonstrating the immense amount of orange crates that will fit in the back of their vans. But still…
Vinyl Viral
The latest faux throw viral sees patrons of the social music discovery app, MusicBunk, going for a record throw as they defy physics and try to land a series of LP’s on a self-branded portable turntable (my favourite is the miss, adds an edge of realism).
(And the kick… You gotta love the kick)
I almost feel like we’ve seen enough of this format, but it’s is fun and I can already imagine the Shoreditch Championships that will be taking place in the Village underground. God damn hipsters.
Paddy Power – Goal Line Technology
Paddy Power do it again, this time it would appear they may have learnt from their previously pulled efforts and created a clean version of their latest ad to release alongside the ‘rude’ one.
As you can imagine, the clean version of this ad is exatly the same minus a little groan and a finger sniff. You van see it here.
